Newquay Voice
The ''Newquay Voice'' is a local weekly newspaper, published every Wednesday from Newquay, Cornwall, United Kingdom covering the northern part of the former borough of Restormel, which is effectively ‘Greater Newquay’. It has a sister newspaper, the ''St. Austell Voice'', covering the south of the old borough. The Newquay Voice was launched in September 2001 by Newquay couple Andrew and Chrissie Laming. It is independent and has no links with any publishing group. Andrew Laming also launched the RSL radio station Malibu Surf FM which broadcast every summer in Newquay from 1999-2005 and led to the successful bid for a Cornwall wide licence that launched in 2006 as Atlantic FM.
The ''St. Austell Voice'' was also launched in 2006 to provide a locally owned and focussed alternative to the large group owned papers that dominate the region. It was the first paper in the area to go full colour and flew in the face of the trend to centralize production, by basing the whole team responsible for each edition in their respective towns. The group also produces the summer entertainment magazine Woz On.
In 2006, The Newquay Voice teamed up with Newquay Based Photography Company "Cornwall-Photos.com", to enable readers to view and purchase photos featured in each week's papers through either the Voice website, or Cornwall-Photos.com. This was expanded to include the St. Austell Voice in May 2009.
